La Valorette was a farmhouse in more than thirty years ago, its restaurant was reputed in the region, the local elders still talk about it. Located at the end of a private trail before the village of Tournefort, in the valley of La Tinée, 45 minutes from Nice, we benefit from a warm and pleasant Mediterranean climate. Since we moved here in 2003, we have renovated the panoramic wooden room that used to be the restaurant, we have made it a living space to eat and meet with guests, trainees and visitors. Two guest rooms and a family apartment of two small rooms are in the old hostel. Two other guest rooms are in a new wooden chalet bordering the forest, five Mongolian huts are dotted on our land. Located on a terrace facing the mountains, our land is quiet and very sunny. We benefit from the mildness of the south of France and the seasons are well marked. However, if in winter it freezes at night we rarely have snow. We have a vegetable garden and some fruit trees, of course for the preparation of our meals we prefer to use products locally grown in our land or near by.
We have opted for Sustainable Development. The heating of the old houses is central and fed by two air/water heat pumps. The hot water is solar. We have installed two water savers in the showers and sinks. All the new toilets are dry toilets, we have of course conserved the previous septic tank, but we have added two systems, one with a compost toilet for the two individual rooms and one system of double compartment for the chalet and Mongolian huts. The used waters from the chalet are directed towards a natural filtering system.
We have a Mongolian hut for the staff, one American and four made in France in the respect of the environment made with hemp and wood.
The sheep barn has harmonious proportions, we saved it from ruin as soon as we arrived, its insulation is made of environmentally friendly wooden board. We installed our SPA in its ground floor and it houses three Panchakarma cabins, an office for consultation and a bathroom. Everything is made in wood by local craftsmen of our valley. The seminar room, of 45m2, occupies the whole surface of the second floor. The views are fantastic.
